Vientiane, 16 July 2020 – In conjunction with Proud to Be Us Laos, Community Health and Inclusion Association and LGBTQ Equality, the Australian Embassy and the Laos Australia Institute hosted a Facebook live panel discussion, OzTalk: ‘Breaking the Silence – Open Hearts and Minds’. Delivered via the Australia in Laos  Facebook page this event was a celebration of Laos’ gender and sexually diverse community.

Hosted by Sophie Wilkinson, Second Secretary at the Australia Embassy, this lively panel engaged in an open dialogue about the need for LGBTQ issues to be be addressed in schools, societies and all workplaces. Though the LGBTQ+ community has overcome many challenges in the recent years, there is still so much more progress to be made.

This event was moderated by an Australia Awards alumna, Malaivieng Viengvilay (Diana), Program Officer (HRD), Australian Embassy.
