Winner Ambassador Award: Innovation and Initiative
Manithda Sitthimolada
Manithda Sithimolada (Lena), a Deakin University graduate in International Relations. Lena won the Award for establishing and the charity campaign ‘Team We Run’. The campaign has had a lasting impact on Luang Prabang through raising funds for important community services and inspiring healthy lifestyles through running. This Award is granted to alumni who demonstrate visionary innovation, initiative and entrepreneurship.
Winner Ambassador Award: Women in Leadership
Viengsam Indavong
Viengsam Indavong, a true leader having established the Association for Autism after completion of her studies at Flinders University. Viengsam leads a ground-breaking organisation in Laos that raises awareness, advocates for rights of people with autism and provides needed services. Viengsom successfully translated her Master’s degree in Disability Policy and Practice into a valuable contribution to Lao community. Consequently, children with autism can also receive an education.
Winner Ambassador Award: Male Champion of Change
Buavanh Vilavong
Buavanh Vilavong (Bank), was identified as a leading figure in supporting women colleagues through his equitable and inclusive approach at his division at the Ministry. Bank completed a Master’s degree in Management and Commerce at the University of Melbourne; and recently, a PhD in Philosophy at the Australian National University. Bank’s commitment to principles and values of fairness, equality and equity, promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment won him this award.

Ambassador Awards: Bilateral Contribution

This award was given to one or more alumni who have made a significant contribution to Australia’s human resource development initiative in Laos, including through Australian public diplomacy events, scholarship promotion and professional development training.
